Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated · 17 May 2026
Aratrikkaz Pty Ltd is committed to the prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain. We publish this voluntary statement in line with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), although our annual revenue does not yet meet the reporting threshold.
Our business
Aratrikkaz Pty Ltd is an Australian luxury Indian and Indo-western fashion atelier. We design pieces in Sydney and partner with named weaver clusters in Banaras, Lucknow, Kanchipuram, Kutch, and Jaipur (India). Our direct supply chain consists of these named clusters and a small number of fabric and embellishment suppliers we work with directly.
Risks we recognise
The Indian textile industry is well-documented to have modern slavery risks at certain tiers of its supply chain, particularly in spinning mills, power-loom factories, and casualised home-based work without contracts. We recognise that even artisanal hand-loom and embroidery work can be exposed to risks of debt bondage, child labour, and exploitative subcontracting.
Our commitments
- Direct, named relationships. We work only with named weaver clusters and collectives, not anonymous intermediaries. The named cluster is published on every product page.
- No child labour. We do not source from any supplier whose workers include people under 18. Where legally protected family-based weaving traditions involve training of adolescents, we verify that they are also in school.
- Fair-wage commitments. We pay by the piece at rates above the regional median for the equivalent work. We do not negotiate fees down. We publish indicative rates on the Promise page.
- Cluster visits. Our founder visits each cluster at least once a year. Visits include conversations with the karigars and weavers themselves, not only the cluster managers.
- No subcontracting without disclosure. Our supplier agreements require that subcontracting is disclosed and approved in writing.
- Whistleblower channel. Anyone in our supply chain — or any customer who suspects exploitation in our supply chain — can contact legal@aratrikkaz.com. Reports are taken seriously and confidentiality respected.
What we are still working on
We are not perfect. Our second-tier supply chain (yarn spinning, dye suppliers, accessory makers) is not yet fully mapped. We are committed to progressive transparency and will update this statement annually with what we have learned.
Approval
This statement is approved by Ketaki Gupta, as Director of Aratrikkaz Pty Ltd, on behalf of the business. It applies to the financial year ending 30 June 2027 and will be reviewed annually.
