We want you to love what you buy. If something isn't right, here's exactly what to do — without small print. This policy sits alongside our Refund Policy and the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) consumer guarantees, which remain unaffected.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010). These consumer guarantees apply automatically and in addition to the voluntary return windows below.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure (e.g. the piece is significantly different from how it was described, has a fault that would have stopped you from buying it, or is unsafe). You are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Pre-stitched pieces · 30-day change-of-mind window

If your piece arrived pre-stitched (a sherwani in standard size, an anarkali in standard size, etc.), you have 30 days from delivery to return it for a full refund — provided it is unworn, with tags intact, and in original packaging. This is a voluntary policy on top of your ACL rights. Message us first on WhatsApp or returns@aratrikkaz.com and we'll send return-shipping instructions.

Unstitched fabric · 14 days

Unstitched fabric (sarees, unstitched lehenga pieces) can be returned within 14 days of delivery, unwashed and in original packaging. Once it's been cut or taken to a tailor, we cannot accept it back — that is fair, we hope.

Custom-stitched pieces · not refundable for change-of-mind

Custom-stitched pieces — cut to the specific measurements you provided — are not refundable for change-of-mind. We will always confirm measurements with you by WhatsApp or email before stitching begins.

However: if there is a manufacturing fault, or the piece does not match the agreed specifications, ACL consumer guarantees apply in full. We will refund, remake, or repair at no cost. If the fit drifts over time (weight change, pregnancy, etc.), we offer lifetime re-tailoring at our cost, anywhere in the world.

International returns

If you're returning from outside Australia, we will email you a prepaid return label. Original duties paid are not refundable from customs (international customs rules), but we will refund the full product price and original shipping. International returns take 2-3 weeks to process refunds due to transit time.

Faulty or damaged on arrival

If your piece arrives faulty, damaged in transit, or significantly different from what was shown on the site, contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will replace or refund without you needing to pay return shipping. Take photos of the damage and the packaging before unpacking further — this helps with carrier claims.

Items not eligible

  • Pieces that have been worn (other than briefly to try on)
  • Pieces with tags removed or damaged
  • Pieces returned without original packaging
  • Custom-stitched pieces (except for fault — see above)
  • Gift cards (when introduced)
  • Sale or final-clearance items (unless faulty)

These restrictions apply only to voluntary change-of-mind returns. ACL consumer guarantees always apply regardless of these conditions.

How to start a return

  1. Message us on WhatsApp or email returns@aratrikkaz.com with your order number and the reason
  2. We'll send return instructions and (for international orders) a prepaid label within 24 business hours
  3. Pack carefully — keep the original packaging where possible
  4. We process refunds within 5 business days of receiving your return
  5. Refunds appear on your card in 5-10 business days after processing

Cooling-off rights

For purchases made through unsolicited consumer agreements (door-to-door, telemarketing), a 10-business-day cooling-off period applies under the ACL regardless of our other return windows. Our online sales are not unsolicited consumer agreements, but we honour the same generosity in practice.

Consumer agency referrals

If we cannot reach an agreement, you may contact your state or territory fair-trading agency (e.g. NSW Fair Trading) or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). We will cooperate fully with any agency enquiry.
